Global system change leaders
The following people I've met are doing some great work toward systemic social change, in very different areas of society. So I thought I'd give them a nod here...
| Frank Dixon | Global System Change | One of the few people who comes up with the same ideas as me. Thinking with the planet. And he puts them into practice, developing some cool analysis tools for Innovest. |
| Tatiana Glad | Engage Interact | Tatiana brings a rigor to what some would think is touchy feely stuff… by doing it with such a focus on results and with large corporate clients, Tatiana is showing the way. A fellow member of ASP. |
| Alok Singh | Cause and Effect | The more I get to know Alok the more I think we have been on parallel paths. But they cant be, as they are now converging in developing the TranscendingLeadership.net study circle together. |
| Zaid Hassan | Generon Consulting | Zaid is doing some great work with the U process and similar process tools, and brings an understanding of the global challenges, and a critical mind. |
| John Manoochehri | www.johnmanoochehri.net | John is the brainiest environmentalist I know, funny and a friend. |
| Cheryl Hicks | WBCSD | Cheryl wants to make a difference through engaging business and is going far… I'm happy to be developing CSR Geneva with her. |
| Peter Utting | UNRISD | Peter has been analyzing CSR beyond the rhetoric in a rigorous way for years. Essential stuff. |
| Georg Kell | UN Global Compact | Rather than settle for an easy life as a top bureaucrat in UN, Georg experimented with a new way of pursuing the UN's mandate. Historic. Although I've had my concerns at times, things seem to be evolving in useful ways. |
| Michael Powell | Griffith University Business School | As Dean of GBS, Michael is leading the effort to transform GBS into an international center of research excellence on sustainable responsible business. Top bloke. |
| Sofia Bustamante | Lifeworth and Turn up the Courage | Sofia has introduced me to the wonderful worlds of lifecoaching and group facilitation, that have influenced my teaching. She does it with a real enthusiasm for people to be free. Thankyou. |
| Raj Thamotheram | Universities Superannuation Scheme | I haven't seen Raj for a while, but have followed his efforts since he went into the city… a pioneer of responsible investment. |
| James Gifford | UNPRI | I've already written about James in the 2005 annual review at www.lifeworth.net - he's got trillions of assets under management committing to responsible investment. And is a great guitarist. Or at least it seemed after a few drinks. |
| Mark Eadie | Mark is the top blogger on CSR there is. What a relief to read some irreverent stuff from the coalface of changing business. | |
| Alistair Smith | BananaLink | Alistairs voice is one of the strongest in my PhD (and forthcoming book) on the ethos of supporting people to claim their own rights. |
| Jenny Hautman | Crossroads Women Center | Jenny who has been living her principles as a volunteer for over 10 years, and helps me realize when im getting too corporate. |
| Marina Prieto | Central American Womens Network | Marina and I collaborated on some action research with women workers in Central America and her sense of solidarity is fantastic. |
| Andreas Foller | Enact | With a background in counter-globalisation activism, like myself, Andreas engages business pragmatically but with a transformative agenda, now with his own company. |
| Hannah Jones | Nike | Hannah has been a thoughtful leader of Nike's transition towards a systems approach to its responsibilities in the global apparel, footwear and sportswear industry. |
| Mike Zeidler | Association of Sustainability Practitioners | |
| Rupesh Shah | Open University | |
| Jules Peck | Quality of Life Commission | Jules has been doing crucial work on how finance, marketing, and other business sectors can transform to support sustainability. And then he got headhunted by David Cameron. Hmm. Lets wait and see. |
| Shilpa Shah | Akashi and Lifeworth | We need millions more Shilpas: people who integrate their diverse cultural backgrounds with an awareness of contemporary challenges and have the gumption to do something about it. |
| Cate Ferris | Ferris | Had the joy of listening to Cate's evolving compositions for a couple of years in Brighton. Reminds me that creativity and beauty is everywhere, not just for sale. Her music is getting a bit of social commentary going on in it as well. |
